Christiana Arjean is on the run from her stalker cop ex-boyfriend when she’s rescued from the side of the road by butch biker Micah Nubilo and brought into the Arizona woods to the camp of the Hounds of God, Micah’s survivalist biker club—and secretly a queer werewolf pack of which Micah is alpha. Despite Christiana’s humanity, it soon becomes clear that she and Micah are fated mates, but Micah must rebalance her inner wolf’s rage before she can pursue intimacy safely. The Hounds of God enact a revenge plot against Christiana’s ex that resolves too cleanly, with magical hand-waving eliminating real-world consequences, and the rules of werewolf life and love follow standard genre tropes, but the interpersonal relationships within the pack are delightful and refreshingly free of the infighting often seen in werewolf romance. Micah’s magnetism, charisma, and drive shine through from the moment she hits the page, making it surprising and sweet when, despite her feral nature, she discloses her inexperience with sex and lets the otherwise more passive Christiana guide her through their first encounter. Fans of queer romance craving feel-good escapism—and hot women on bikes—will have fun with this. (Nov.)
